Ghosts from my garden; Fantomes du jardin

Ghost 1About 20 years ago and long before I started making glass artefacts, I bought a box of old slides from a junk shop. I removed the photographs (mainly tourist pics from the 70s), cleaned them scrupulously (glass has to be super clean before it can be softened in the kiln), and fused elements from my garden in between two slides. Leaves, flowers and vegetative matter burn out in the kiln leaving a ghost or a tracing inside the glass. These are ghosts from my garden that i’m assembling as hangings. They are fused in the kiln, ground to shape, polished, drilled and assembled with brass, copper and/or steel and kilncast leaves.
